Impressive scoring marks Adega Mayor event at Boavista

The Adega Mayor golf tournament recently celebrated its 7th edition at Boavista Golf & Spa Resort in the western Algarve. This popular event attracted a field of 64 players and was once again a highly competitive tournament characterised by some impressive performances.

Top spot was claimed by Kath Sells with a fabulous 41 Stableford points and she was rewarded with a wonderful 2-night stay for two people at the Dona Beatriz Hotel at Campo Mayor. The winner also collected two bottles of Comendador Reserva wine, a gift voucher to visit Adega Mayor Winery, Delta Café Factory and the CCC (Centro de Ciência do Café) museum focusing on the traditions and history of coffee. Kath’s prizes were secured after a closely contested tournament from which she emerged victorious by a solitary point. Runner-up Cristiano Marcela playing off a handicap of 3 returned a score of 40 points for one of the tournament’s highlights. Barry Whittles scored 38 points for 3rd place to complete the line up on the winners’ podium.

Other prizes included nearest the pin at the 11th and 4th holes won by Jennie Howe and Staffan Baaz respectively. The Ladies’ Longest Drive was achieved by Rae Kondes while Cristiano Marcela secured the award in the Mens’ category.

All prize winners received wine and gift vouchers provided by tournament’s sponsor Adega Mayor although with competitors universal in their praise of the event everyone who participated was a winner.
