A new sports lounge, golf simulators and Callaway rental sets follow last year’s extensive course renovation
— October 15, 2026
Salgados Golf Club is continuing its transformation under Troon management, with new facilities and investment introduced during 2026 following the extensive renovation of the course completed the previous year.
The €3.2 million project, carried out between November 2024 and February 2025, included a new Rain Bird irrigation system across all 18 holes, the renovation of every bunker, levelling and returfing of the tees, and the creation of a new par-3 island green on the 12th hole.
The work was subsequently hailed World’s Best Golf Course Renovation 2025 at the World Golf Awards.
Investment has continued in 2026, both on and off the course. The club introduced new Callaway Quantum rental sets and appointed Jan Kronus as operations manager, following more than five years at PGA National Czech Republic.
The clubhouse has also gained The Green Room, a new sports lounge featuring two Foresight Sports golf simulators and six large screens. The addition was accompanied by a revamped food and beverage concept, with a new menu.
The changes form part of the continuing development of Salgados since Highgate Portugal appointed Troon to oversee golf operations, agronomy, sales, and marketing in 2023. The latest investments are part of a longer-term strategy to develop the Salgados golf experience.
