Golfers with disabilities from around the world flock to the Algarve to take part in event
— November 6, 2026

Salgados Golf Club in Albufeira will host an EDGA (European Disabled Golf Association) Tour competition from November 15 to 17, welcoming around 60 golfers with disabilities from around the world.
The event will begin with a practice round on Sunday, November 15, followed by two championship rounds on Monday and Tuesday. Players will compete on the club’s 18-hole, par-72 course, located near Salgados Beach and the Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve.
EDGA aims to make golf more accessible to people with disabilities, helping players get started, develop their skills and continue enjoying the sport. The association organises international competitions across three event categories, with eligible golfers from different disability categories able to compete in stroke play, match play or Stableford formats.
Managed by Troon, Salgados Golf Club was received the distinction of World’s Best Golf Course Renovation 2025 at the World Golf Awards, following extensive improvements to its course.
Jon Schauder, Troon Executive at Salgados Golf Club, welcomed the opportunity to host the competition, highlighting the importance of making golf accessible to everyone.
“We look forward to the players, officials, and visitors experiencing our venue – and together promoting the continued growth of golf as a game that can be enjoyed by everyone. We want to thank the EDGA for this opportunity and wish all the participants a great few days with us.”
