Sebastian Friedrichsen seals his first HotelPlanner Tour title as Tomás Melo Gouveia and Tomás Bessa complete the Portuguese challenge at PGA Aroeira Lisboa

Sebastian Friedrichsen claimed the 64th Open de Portugal at PGA Aroeira Lisboa with a record-breaking performance, producing a final-round 62 to secure his first HotelPlanner Tour title by three shots.
The 23-year-old Dane finished the tournament at 28 under par, with rounds of 64, 66, 64 and 62 for a total of 256, taking the past leader Marc Warren.
His 28-under-par total also set a new winning record for the Open de Portugal, surpassing Colin Montgomerie’s previous mark of 24 under at Quinta do Lago in 1989.
“It feels great,” Friedrichsen said. “I’ve been playing out here for a while, so it feels amazing to finally get it over the line. I’m very happy.”
Tomás Melo Gouveia finished as the leading Portuguese player, tied for 57th at eight under par after rounds of 67, 69, 67 and 73. His performance kept him inside the top 68 of the Road to Mallorca rankings ahead of the upcoming events in China. The golfer now has his sights on climbing into the top 45 of the rankings and qualifying for the season-ending Grand Final in Mallorca.
Tomás Bessa finished 61st at seven under par, recording rounds of 71, 63, 70 and 73 . The Algarve-based player is now turning his attention to the next stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School.
The 2026 Open de Portugal had a purse of €300,000 in prize money and formed part of the HotelPlanner Tour. From 2027, the Open de Portugal will move to Cascais as part of the DP World Tour, while PGA Aroeira is expected to continue hosting a HotelPlanner Tour event.
