The renovations will transform the Old Course into a premium gated club offering an elevated experience with personalised service
– 22 October, 2024
Vilamoura’s Old Course, one of Portugal’s most famous golf courses, has unveiled a revitalised pub concept for golfers, as part of an extensive clubhouse renovation that has taken place over the past few months, with the new state-of-the-art clubhouse scheduled to open in November.
The renovated clubhouse includes upgrades to the entrance, golf shop, living room, and terrace, creating an elegant atmosphere that complements the course’s history. With a boutique vision, the golf shop will feature top golf apparel and equipment brands, and will provide a curated shopping experience.
The new pub will offer comfort food and British pub classics, elevated for today’s tastes, complementing the Old Course’s historic legacy. There will be a selection of British and international beers, as well as pitcher cocktails, Portuguese wines, and Portuguese wines on the drinks menu.
Adorned with vintage touches, the clubhouse will provide golfers and visitors with a relaxing, lived-in space to relax after a round or enjoy a special event in convivial surroundings.
In addition to world-class playing conditions, the renovations will transform the Old Course into a premium gated club offering enhanced service, VIP concierge, and world-class amenities.
Vilamoura’s Old Course is the second oldest in the Algarve, and is part of the Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura collection managed by DETAILS. Like many courses in the DETAILS portfolio, it has undergone significant on-course improvements over recent months, with the new food and beverage options at the clubhouse enhancing the overall guest experience.
The US-based hospitality consulting agency Streetsense, which played a key role in the project, delivered the overall concept direction, market assessment, visual identity, menus, and interior design, ensuring a cohesive vision and efficient operations. With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, residential, retail, food and beverage, and corporate projects worldwide, Streetsense will also contribute to other projects scheduled by DETAILS to be announced in 2025.
Nuno Sepúlveda, Co-CEO of DETAILS shared: “We are very proud to have such a historic and revered venue like the Old Course as part of our portfolio, and we are determined to ensure we create an authentic and relaxed venue with a unique gastronomic experience for our members, guests and the local community.”
Brian Taff, CEO at Streetsense, said: “The Old Course was designed not just as a haven for golfers, but as a true gathering place and community anchor. Streetsense is deeply honoured that our Hospitality Consulting team has the opportunity to partner with DETAILS’ dedicated team to revitalize this historic property bringing together a thoughtful concept with innovative menus, seamless operations, and inspiring design. Together, we’re excited to bring new energy to a timeless place and respected tradition.”
Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura, IAGTO’s pick as Portugal’s 2024 Best Golf Resort, also includes the Victoria Course, the former home of the Portugal Masters, which is currently under renovation.
