Algarve golf enjoy great popularity and new evidence from the UK and Ireland is also encouraging. There were fewer club members in the UK&I last year but rounds played increased. Golfing community HowDidiDo’s data of over 1,300,000 UK members across 2,000 clubs shows ladies’ medal rounds rose by 2% and Stableford rounds by 11% to 469,530. Men’s medal rounds increased by 1% and Stableford by 5% to 1,875,523. While medal rounds increased the preference was for Stableford. Barry Dyett, managing director of HowDidiDo, said: “11,000 fewer medal rounds were played but almost 200,000 more Stableford.” The upward trend in Algarve golf visitors looks well set to continue.
