Tomás Melo Gouveia secured the top spot in the professional golf circuit’s 2025 Timestamp Golf Tour ranking on Sunday, November 23, at Aroeira in Almada. The result was announced by the Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG) and PGA Portugal, following the end of the six-event season.
The 31-year-old finished ahead of Vasco Alves, who came close to taking the number 1 position but missed a decisive 12-metre putt on the final hole of the season.
This concluded the competitive year that featured nine of the ten highest-ranked Portuguese players in the world, with only Stephen Ferreira absent due to living in Zimbabwe. Melo Gouveia was the only player to claim two titles during the season.
He won the opening event, the Montebelo Golf Classic in Viseu, defeating Pedro Lencart in a play-off. He followed it with another play-off victory, this time against the experienced Pedro Figueiredo at the Lisbon Masters in Sintra.
Across the rest of the circuit, Melo Gouveia finished third in the VI Solverde Players Championship in Espinho, third in the National Professional Championship in Troia, skipped the 42nd Open Pro-Am of the Terceira Island Golf Club, and placed fourth in the Timestamp Golf Tour Final by PGA National at Aroeira.
“It was a very positive season on the circuit. I won two tournaments, and I was almost always in the running for victory, the exception being this last tournament. I was the player with the most titles, and finishing the circuit as the winner was even better. Winning a ranking is always good, wherever it is, and it motivates me. This circuit was very good for the professionals to have competition,” said Tomás Melo Gouveia.

This was the first season organised by the FPG and PGA Portugal, and both organisations reviewed the year at Aroeira, with board members from each present.
Alexandre Abreu from PGA Portugal said: “It was the first year we started working together, and we had a spectacular circuit, with many tournaments, competitive, with the best players at the national level. Timestamp played a key role, not only as the main sponsor, but also in helping us immensely in this work. And we want to continue on this path with the FPG, because it is the right path.”
Miguel Gaspar from FPG added: “It has been a very positive experience. The professionals were playing on the Aquapor Circuit, and we felt that we should raise the level of the amateurs to meet the professionals and not the other way around. We launched this idea with our partner Timestamp – a company that is growing rapidly – and I felt that it was important for FPG, PGA and Timestamp to grow together. And it was a success. Timestamp is very happy with this partnership, and next year we will maintain the circuit, and I am sure it will grow.”
The tour was considered a success and will return in 2026.
