Quinta do Lago in central Algarve has been awarded junior golf club status from the Portuguese Golf Federation and so youngsters can now play and compete under the Quinta do Lago name.
Resort head professional José Ferreira is looking forward to further success with juniors: “Everyone at the resort has worked very hard over the last decade to establish Quinta do Lago as Portugal’s premier teaching academy. There are few better feelings as a golfer than representing your home club at a tournament and to go out and compete under the Quinta do Lago umbrella is something that I’m sure will make all our juniors very proud.”
With three 18-hole championship golf courses complemented by terrific practice facilities including a Paul McGinley Golf Academy and TaylorMade Performance Centre – the only one in Southern Europe – Quinta do Lago has everything needed to help a player progress from beginner to competitor at a national level and Ferreira explained that the “mission” at Quinta do Lago “is to increase the number of players, build champions and provide the opportunity for every junior to play golf”.
As a dimension of golf in the Algarve and Portugal the strengthening commitment to junior golf continues and this latest announcement further signals the promise of a very bright future for Portuguese golf.
