Joana Mota ended a fifteen year drought for Vilamoura Golf Club when winning the 4th Liberty Insurance tournament of this year’s tour at the Estela course, Porto. No girl from Vilamoura had won an event on this tour for so long and Joana’s success was also memorable because it was her first on the tour. On the second day she posted the lowest round of the Ladies’ division for the best 36hole total of 161 while runnerup, Maria Inês Barbosa from Miramar GC scored 165. Joana’s success is undoubtedly the sign of more great things to come.
