FINAL FLOURISH FOR ALGARVE INTERCLUB LEAGUE AT GOLF SANTO ANTONIO

Having won the 2014 Algarve InterClub League, Floresta Parque Golf Club recently had the privilege of hosting this year’s Finals Day at Golf Santo António. Finals Day is organised with the clear objective of facilitating a fun day of golf for mutual friends while at the same time as recognising and celebrating the achievements of three divisional winners and of course the overall winner. Seventeen golf clubs were represented from across the Algarve and a total of 102 players took part in the Pairs ‘better ball’ format.

Overall InterClub Champions and Division 1 winners Vila Sol were presented with their trophies by Bob Hart, Floresta Parque 2014 Captain. Division 2 winners Palmares and Division 3 winners Quinta do Lago also received their awards following their successful achievements over the season.

The winning team on the day itself was Alto Golfe Portimão with a very impressive 124 points. A close call for second and third places saw Vilamoura claim the runners-up spot with 115 points as they just pipped Carvoeiro who also returned 115 but had to settle for third position.

Following another great season of InterClub camaraderie and competition the day was voted a resounding success by all. Tributes and gratitude are due for the tremendous work carried out over the season by InterClub League Algarve committee members, Nick Daly, Eric Innes and Graham Miller. Similarly, the day would not have been such a resounding success without the fantastic input of Floresta Parque Golf Club and all the staff at Golf Santo António. Such a positive end to a very enjoyable season augurs well for another great year in 2016 where the spirit of friendly, competitive golf is sure to be once again the hallmark of the league.
