The 16th edition of the annual afpop & MEDAL Golf Tournament proved to be a resounding success, bringing together more than 100 participants and guests at the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort in Portimão, in September.

Played on the renowned Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course – recognised as one of the most challenging and historic courses in the Algarve – the event once again highlighted the long-standing partnership between afpop and MEDAL, whilst offering a day of competition, conviviality, and celebration.

Over 90 players competed in the official tournament under the Stroke Play format, using the Stableford points system. In the Women’s category, Farida Limo secured first place, whilst in the Men’s category, victory went to Roger Yates.

Michael Reeve, CEO of afpop, and Henrique Pinheiro, CEO and founder of MEDAL, highlighted the importance of the event in maintaining close ties between clients and the community they represent.

The afpop & MEDAL Golf Tournament “continues to stand out as a landmark event in the region’s sporting and social calendar, symbolising both tradition and the strength of community ties”, organisers say, confirming the 17th edition is already a certainty for 2026.
