Golfers from the Royal Automobile Club of London have been visiting the Algarve for the past 21 years. In 1993 when Nick Shailer and Paul Michelmore were captains of Club Golf Quinta do Lago and the RAC (London) respectively they arranged a friendly fixture to be played in the Algarve. Every November since then an RAC team has played against clubs in the Algarve including a regular fixture against Quinta do Lago. However last November, after 21 years, the tour was brought to an emotional conclusion as the RAC won the final competition. However, the strength of a relationship forged over two decades ensures that bonds between the two clubs will be preserved. The last dinner included a presentation of prizes and exchange of mementos and also the announcement that both clubs were determined to maintain their long-established friendship. Here we see CGQL captain for the day (and former RAC member!) James Aitken presenting the Shailer-Michelmore Trophy to RAC captain for the day Alan Dibble at the conclusion of what was another memorable and, especially on this occasion, very emotional experience for everyone present.
