Quinta do Lago will host the 2016 World Golf Awards in November and this is the third year in a row that it has been chosen to stage the event. Such sustained recognition also reflects the resort’s upgrade to its sports, leisure and lifestyle facilities as part of a six-year investment programme. Chief executive John Dwyer expressed his delight at the opportunity again to showcase the new luxury facilities to a global audience. “It was a real privilege to be involved for the first two years and it’s fantastic that Quinta do Lago will play a leading role with the World Golf Awards for a third year. It is a huge honour and opportunity for us to showcase our five-star facilities to some of the respected figures in the golf industry.” World Golf Awards managing director, Chris Frost, also heaped praise on the facilities available at Quinta do Lago and paid tribute to all that the region has to offer. “The Algarve remains the centre of the golfing world, and it was no surprise when Portugal took the title of World’s Best Golf Destination for the second year in succession in 2015, with Quinta do Lago being voted Europe’s Best Golf Venue. I’m sure the resort will be one of the leading contenders for further honours this year.”
