The 10th edition of the Hilton Vilamoura Golf Cup competition was recently staged at the Pinhal Golf course, Vilamoura to mark when, in 2007, the hotel first opened its doors. Some of the players are pictured here all set for action and the opening ball was struck in sparkling Algarve sunshine with over 50 golfers competing in the Stableford tournament. Celebration was the order of the day as Reynold wines even served up a wine tasting break with tapas for players at 9th hole, the half-way stage of the competition. Before and after the tournament, Fernando Nogueira, renowned PGA Portugal professional and Golf Director of the hotel, provided golf clinic sessions for players to hone and practise their skills. Participants and guests could also take advantage of a sumptuous buffet lunch as well as some of the hotel’s ‘mobile’ on-site leisure facilities including a miniature Shiatsu massage. Overall victor in the male category was Roger Brandão while Aida Batalha triumphed in the female section and both received their winning trophies from Snr Dinis Pires, Director General, Hilton Vilamoura. Various other prizes were also presented including nearest the pin and longest drive awards. At the conclusion of the event, Snr Dinis Pires sincerely thanked all participants and paid tribute to the event’s sponsors for, due to their fantastic support, making the occasion such a success. It was also confirmed that the date of the 2018 Hilton Vilamoura Golf Cup will take place on 15th September next year on what is certain to be another fun-filled, memorable day for Hilton Vilamoura.
