At the beginning of July Golf Santo Antonio raised a tremendous €2,000 in aid of Riding For The Disabled Barlavento. A very successful charity golf event commenced with a shotgun start and had a full entry with more than 80 players in pairs from a number of local clubs and even some who had flown in to support the event.
Many of the prizes on offer were donated by local businesses and individuals. Awards included prizes for nearest the pin at all par three holes for both ladies and men, the longest drive on the 18th and for best stableford pair to 10th place. In fact, and in keeping the tremendous spirit of the event, every single competitor received a prize!
The score of the day was a fantastic 46 points scored by the partnership of Peter McDonagh and John Deardon and who very generously allowed the golf bags they had won to be auctioned to raise even more funds for the charity.
After the prize giving more than 100 delighted diners, including guests and competitors, enjoyed a sumptous 3 course buffet and wine followed by a raffle to further boost the funds for Riding For The Disabled Barlavento.
Event organisers David and Margaret Haddon were thrilled at the tremendous turnout and generosity resulting in over €2.000 for RDA, a voluntary, non-profit making organization. RDA is dedicated to making a real and lasting difference to the lives of disabled people and enables them to ride with the aim of improving health and general well-being and to achieve new goals.
Golf Director Brian Noble echoed the deep satisfaction and pride of all who were involved. “The turn out for the day, was incredible. It has been a while since Golf Santo Antonio held such an event and it was enjoyed by all. The golf course is in the best condition it has been for a number of years and there were many who wanted to make a contribution to the charity, all adding to a memorable day”.
