The Monte Rei’s 2016 Winter Classic has been won by 4-time senior tour winner Juan Quiros who also clinched the team event with amateur partner Shaun Kelly. A completely full and very competitive field of 48 pros and 24 amateurs were aiming for the prize fund of almost €20,000 and included past Ryder Cup players Ronan Rafferty (Monte Rei ambassador), Jarmo Sandelin and Gordon Brand Jnr and European Tour regulars Miguel Angel Martin, Anders Forsbrand, Pedro Linhart and Mark Mouland. Senior Golf Circuit CEO David James commended the event for its “excellent organisation” while Ronan Rafferty, Monte Rei ́s representing Tour Professional highlighted that “Monte Rei was again in superb condition”. Monte Rei continues to forge a reputation as a first class venue for golf and leisure in the eastern Algarve and looks well set for another very successful season in the year ahead.
