Graham Vince, Boavista Golf and Spa Resort captain for 2016, has a formidable charity target following last year’s success story. NECI (Núcleo Especializado para o Cidadão Incluso), chosen charity of previous captain Derek Sells, has benefited greatly from the Algarve club’s generosity. When added to various sums raised during the season the Captain’s Charity Day event boosted funds to almost €12,000. Quiz events, race nights and bingo evenings further enhanced the contributions while errant golfers finding the 17th fairway lake made regular ‘penalty box’ donations. The Palvista Trophy contested between the Palmares and Boavista clubs also provided €1,600 for a magnificent final total of €13,500.
