A poll among readers of Today’s Golfer and Golf World magazines reveals that the Algarve is the most popular and desirable overseas golf destination for UK golfers. The region emerged as the preferred destination with readers providing details of their golf holidays in the past 12 months. A combined total of 37 percent of Today’s Golfer and Golf World readers confirmed having visited the Algarve in the past year – almost 10 per cent more than any other destination. Participants were also asked their golf trip intentions in the next 12 months and the results were even more conclusive with nearly 60 per cent of readers choosing the Algarve as their number one destination.
The Algarve’s 50th golden year of golf celebrations have been marked in a number of ways including the popular Golden Tees Challenge with the chance to win 52 green fees for 2017. There has also been yet another highly successful Portugal Masters tournament at the Oceânico Victoria Club, Vilamoura and the Algarve generally continues to host a fantastic range of golfing events and activities across its 43 fabulous courses.
